3P Advisory Engagement and Research Information Privacy Policy (ERIPP)
This Engagement and Research Information Privacy Policy (ERIPP) constitutes 3P Advisory’s privacy policy. It outlines how the 3P Advisory protects your privacy rights and upholds its obligations under privacy law, when handling your personal information.
3P Advisory undertakes community engagement, stakeholder engagement, social research and program evaluation for its own purposes and as commissioned by its clients. Our clients include state government agencies, local councils, not-for-profit organisations, universities, and/or commercial organisations. From time to time, we use sub-contractors to work with us. Any sub-contractors engaged are required to comply with the 3P Advisory ERIPP.
3P and Associates and 3P Advisory (ACN 602 462 546) respects and upholds your rights under the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act). 3P Advisory is a member of the International Association for Public Participation and as such, uses training, guidance, principles, and best practice to guide our engagement and research work with members of the public.
The ERIPP lets you know what personal information of yours we hold, what we do with it, who we will disclose it to and how you can access the personal information we hold about you.
Personal Information
3P Advisory collects personal information as part of its regular community/stakeholder engagement and social research activities. We occasionally collect Sensitive Information (see below). The terms Personal Information and Sensitive Information are used in the Privacy Act and are explained below.
As part of our community engagement and/or social research we are likely to collect your personal information. The Privacy Act defines personal information as: “information or an opinion, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.”
The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) cites the following as common examples: individual’s name, signature, address, telephone number, date of birth, and commentary or opinion about a person. We may collect any of the above information as well as any other personal information that is sufficiently relevant to the topic of the community/stakeholder engagement social research. This includes basic demographic data about you that helps to inform the demographic profile of participants in engagement or research activities we undertake.
Given the nature of the engagement and/or social research work conducted by 3P Advisory, it is not always practicable for community/stakeholder or research participants to remain anonymous or to use pseudonyms.
Sensitive Information
We occasionally collect sensitive information from you. The OAIC APP Guidelines define sensitive information as: “information or an opinion (that is also personal information) about an individual’s:
- racial or ethnic origin
- political opinions, membership of a political association
- religious beliefs or affiliations
- philosophical beliefs
- membership of a professional or trade association, membership of a trade union
- sexual orientation or practices
- criminal record, and
- health information about an individual, genetic information (that is not otherwise health information)".
If a client requests 3P Advisory to undertake engagement or research functions that require Sensitive Information to be collected, we work with either a Qualified Professional Researcher (QPR) and/or undertake an ethics assessment through a recognised University Ethics Committee process and work and receive guidance and supervision with ethics certified researchers in this aspect of our work.
Collection
3P Advisory will generally collect your personal information directly from you in the course of you participating in our community engagement, research and/or evaluation activities.
Participation in our engagement and research and/or evaluation activities is voluntary.
We may also from time to time receive personal information about you from third parties for the purpose of conducting social research on behalf of that organisation.
We may also collect personal information from public phone directories, commercial or consumer listings, data organisations and respondent recruitment agencies.
We may also collect personal information if you are expecting a response from us. For example, if you have questions about a specific community engagement or social research project and we need to respond to you.
Data Collection and Security
3P Advisory will take reasonable steps to protect your personally identifiable information as you transmit your information from your computer to our engagement platform or website and to protect such information from loss, misuse, and unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
Data Disposal
3P Advisory will destroy or de-identify your personal information as soon as reasonably practicable once it is no longer required to complete the community/stakeholder engagement or social research for which it was collected. We may, in certain circumstances, be required by law to retain your personal information after our research has been completed. In this case your personal information will continue to be protected in accordance with this Policy

We will respond within 30 days. If you are emailing with a complaint, we will advise whether we agree with your complaint or not. If we do not agree, we will provide reasons. If we do agree, we will advise what (if any) action we consider it appropriate to take in response.

Terms of Use
The following Terms and Conditions govern the use of Engage Tasmania by 3P Advisory (“the site”). The software platform is owned by Social Pinpoint Pty Ltd and operated by us, 3P Advisory.
By accessing and using this site, you are choosing to accept and comply with the Terms presented throughout this agreement as well as the Privacy Policy and Moderation Policy. These Terms apply to all visitors and users of this site. Linked sites, affiliated services or third party content or software have their own Terms that you must comply with. If you disagree with any of the Terms presented in this agreement, you may discontinue using the site immediately.
If you are under 18 years old, please ensure that your parent or guardian understands and accepts these Terms and Conditions (including the Privacy Policy and Moderation Policy).
What are the conditions with a user’s account?
While using the site, you must not violate any applicable laws and regulations. It is our duty to protect the confidentiality of content you provide on our site in accordance with our Privacy Policy. When you create an account with us, you must always provide us with accurate information. Failure to provide accurate information violates the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our service. You are responsible for protecting your own password you use for this site and for any activities done under that password. Unauthorised use of your password or account must be immediately reported to us. In some cases, we or our agents may require access to your user accounts to respond to technical issues.
We are not responsible for the content on the site that has been provided by the users of the site. Any content posted by you is subject to the rules of our Moderation Policy. Your contribution to the site may be edited, removed or not published if we consider it inappropriate (refer to Moderation Policy). Contributors should also be aware that their posts may remain online indefinitely. Where practical, you may choose not to identify yourself, deal with us on an anonymous basis or use a pseudonym.
What do we require from our users?
You must understand and agree that, without limitation:
- all information, data, images and other materials are the sole responsibility of the person from whom the content originated;
- you are prohibited from advertising or offering to sell or buy any goods and services
- you cannot transmit Content that contains software viruses or programs designed to change or destroy the functionality of any computer software or hardware; or
- you cannot collect or store personal data about other users of the site
- you cannot impersonate any person or entity, including without limitation to a 3P Advisory representative
- you cannot interrupt or interfere with the site or servers or networks connected to the site
- you cannot attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or other use accounts
Can your account be suspended or terminated?
We may terminate or suspend access to your site and/or account immediately, without prior notice, including without limitation if you breach the Terms. We may immediately deactivate or delete your account and all the related files and information in your account. After your account has been terminated, the content you have posted may also remain indefinitely on the site.

Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed in accordance with the laws of Tasmania, Australia, without regards to its conflict of law provisions.
Indemnification
3P Advisory, its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, licensors and other partners are not responsible for any loss, liability, claim, or demand, including legal fees, made by any third party due to or arising from a breach of this agreement and/or any breach of your representations and warranties set forth above.
What content do we own?
This website contains the copyrighted material, trademarks, patents, trade secrets and other proprietary information (“Intellectual Property”) of 3P Advisory and its suppliers and licensors. 3P Advisory owns and retains all proprietary rights in the intellectual property. All intellectual property in the content of this site including without limitation to text, software, source code, pages, documents and online graphics, photographs, sounds, audio, video and other interactive features are owned by or licensed to us.
Any original content that you submit or post on our site may be made available to the public and allows users to share your content (with the end user acknowledging your contribution) under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 Australian License.
Except for Intellectual Property which is in the public domain or for which you have been given written permission, you may not copy, alter, transmit, sell, distribute any of the Intellectual Property on this site.
We are not responsible for your communications or dealings, including payment and delivery of goods or services, with a third party found via our website. Any loss or damage incurred from those communications or dealings are solely between the user and the third party.
Disclaimer and Warranties
Users must agree that you use of the site is at your own risk. We make no warranty that the site will meet your requirements or be uninterrupted or error-free.
